Before the legislature, Dale spent 10 years in construction, 7 years installing heating and air systems, and 10 years as the Cherokee County Agricultural Agent for Kansas State University. He now serves as Cherokee County Economic Development Director, working with local producers, business owners, and schools.

Dale and his wife have been married 30 years and raise cattle on their family farm, established in 1912.
